Davis High distance runners had a fine evening at home Friday night, competing at UC Davis' Woody Wilson Invitational. The highlight of the meet for the Blue Devils was Ricky Martin's strong third place showing in the boys 1600 meter run. Martin fought off a finish line charge from five other runners to capture third place with a lifetime best of 4:22.74. Thad Sieracki continued his fine comeback from an injury, taking 6th in the boys 3200 meters with a personal best time of 9:37.40. Dustin Schelegle, Jeremy Del Cid, Patrick Lynch, and Steve Buchanan teamed up for 8th place in the 4 x 800 relay. All four ran personal best times for 800 meters. Heather West and Veronica Miqueo were 9th and 10th in the girls 800 meters. Miqueo had a season best 2:23.39 and showed signs of returning to the form that had her placing 6th in the 800 at last year's Sac-Joaquin section track championships. The 4 x 800 girls team (Chelsea Reilly, Elizabeth Bertolani, Sarah Chan, and Megan Wall) finished in 13th place. Kaitlin Gregg was 15th in the girls 3200 meter run. The Blue Devils will be busy next week, competing in a Monticello Empire League meet in Vacaville on Wednesday and at the Chico Invitational on Friday.
