A small group of Davis High track athletes were selected to compete in the highly competitive Sacramento Meet of Champions held Saturday at Sac City's Hughes Stadium. In the frosh/soph boys division, Josh Van Eyken was 3rd in the 400 meters and Abas Jemal took 3rd in both the 110m high hurdles and the 300m low hurdles. Kaitlin Gregg ran to a strong 4th place finish in the open varsity girls 3200 meter run. Also competing were Matt Solomon (9th 300m hurdles, 110 high hurdles), Veronica Miqueo (7th open girls 800m), Ricky Martin (9th invitational 1600m), and Thad Sieracki (8th invitational 3200m). The Blue Devils will finish their MEL dual meet season at home on Wednesday against Napa. Freshmen and sophomores will conclude their season Friday at the Tri-County Invitational, a meet that will feature all 12 teams from the Monticello Empire League and the Solano County Athletic Conference.
